KUCHING: The Ministry for Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development will be known by a new name soon.
Minister Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi Utom revealed that the cabinet has agreed to the new name.
“We are just waiting for the official announcement to be made by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg,” he said during a press conference after the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between Sarawak Farmers Association (PPNS) and Sea Horse Corporation Sdn Bhd for the Shrimp Farming Project here on Wednesday (September 7).
He said the function of the ministry will remain the same but more focus will be given to commodity.
“We want to make sure that it is in line with the food industry and regional development because that is what our ministry is all about,” he added.
Also present was deputy minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail.
