Abang Johari shakes hands in greeting with Hurarairah.

KUCHING: Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg recently received a courtesy call from the new chairwoman of Shell Malaysia, Siti Hurarairah at his office in Petra Jaya, here.

During the visit, Siti stated to Abang Johari on Shell’s business and operations in Malaysia that were in recent time had seen its headquarters relocated from Kuala Lumpur to Miri.

Hurarairah made history as the first woman appointed to the country chair of Shell Malaysia effective this year.

She was a Shell scholar who graduated from Imperial College in London, with a first-class degree in mechanical engineering.

She began her career in the oil and gas industry as an operation engineer in Shell Malaysia upstream and later secured some of the high positions in the company before being appointed as the leader for Shell Malaysia.

Also present during the visit was chief executive officer of Petroleum Sarawak Bhd, Janin Giri.
