New solar street lights in Bakun Resettlement Scheme area soon

BELAGA: The state government will implement a solar street light project in the Bakun Resettlement Scheme (BRS) to ensure the safety and comfort of its residents.

Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon said the initiative was for the sake of the community’s wellbeing.

The project is still in the planning stages and will likely be implemented in the near future.

“With the availability of these solar street lights, it is expected to be able to operate effectively and light up the streets around BRS as well as other nearby areas,” he said at a briefing session and a visit to the proposed site to supply street lights using solar technology at the BRS area in Sungai Asap, recently.

Belaga Bidah Lujah district officers, community leaders and representatives of Fly Top Solar New Energy Technology (M) Sdn Bhd also participated in the briefing and site visit.

The briefing session was a follow-up to his courtesy visit together with the Deputy Minister In The Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Duties) Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong to the deputy prime minister’s office on March 28.

“Among the issues raised were related to the people’s request to BRS regarding the urgent need to instal street lights in the resettlement scheme,” he said.

He hoped the plan could be realised for the convenience and needs of the residents in BRS.
