KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 83 orphans received contributions donated by the students, lecturers, staff members, and clubs as well as associations of UiTM Sarawak.
The contributions were handed over by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib at the university here on Wednesday.
According to the university’s Rector, Prof Dato Dr Jamil Haji Hamali, this yearly event was held to present contributions to orphans who are studying in the university in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya celebration.
“We hope with this, it will help our students as they go back to their hometowns to celebrate with their relatives,” he said during his speech.
The event was then followed by inviting guests to break of fast together.
