KUCHING: Kuching Hope Place is changing its food delivery system from 1 July; it will provide food for needy families once every three months.
Previously, it provided food for needy families once every two months but due to the economic downturn and 40 percent drop in public donations, Hope Place decided to change its delivery system.
Recently, it received a call from a disabled elderly who requested for large size adult pampers and Nutren Optimum milk powder.
Razali Sani, 52, suffered from stroke five months ago and his wife, Hamdiah Reseli is unable to work because Razali needs 24-hour care.
Apart from that, Razali also needs to be fed with milk powder through a tube every three hours. A tin of Nutren Optimum milk powder can last him only three days.
The couple has two children; their daughter is working as a part time general worker in a kindergarten while their son is working at a supermarket.
Although both children are working, their salaries are not enough to support their father’s needs.
Therefore, the family seeks public kindness to help them to buy things they cannot afford.
Hope Place is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that contributes essential food items like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits and noodles to needy and less fortunate families and currently, it supports more than 170 families.
Hope Place can be reached at its Hotline (013-5672775) or office (082-683378) from 8.30am to 12pm and 2pm– to 5pm (Monday to Friday) and 9am to 12pm (Saturday).
Public interested to donate are advised to request for receipts from the staff at Hope Place. They can also directly bank in to Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching (Maybank account number: 5112-8900-1160).
