KUCHING: Ministry of Welfare, Community Well being, Women, Family and Childhood Development (KWKPK) will held its ‘KWKPK Open Day’ on Feb 3 and 4 at the Kuching Waterfront here.

This was announced by its minister, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah at a press conference in Baitulmakmur, Petra Jaya yesterday. The inaugural event was aimed to share the latest information on social, welfare, community wellbeing, women, family and childhood development to various agencies and members of the public.

“Themed, ‘Wellbeing Wellness’ (Meniti Kesejahteraan Bersama), the event is also intends to promote the function and services of KWKPK to members of the public, besides strengthening the ties between KWKPK with its strategic partner, agencies and public,” she said.

Fatimah also stated that the opening ceremony will be officiated by the Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg on the first day. “During the opening ceremony, there will be a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) grant presentation from PETRONAS totalling RM2 million to 224 Non- Governmental Organisations (NGOs) throughout the state.

“12 NGOs are invited to receive the grant as a presentation symbolic and we expect to have more than 1,500 visitors to attend the open day,” she added.

According to Fatimah, there were 36 food stalls from the Welfare Micro Entrepreneurs (WME) and 40 exhibition booths will be set up during the two-day event.
