KAPIT: Lela Anak Sigi beat 10 other finalists to be crowned this year’s Kapit Fest beauty queen at the closing of Kapit Fest held at the Old Airport site here on Sunday evening.
The contestants had to design their dresses based on the theme for this year’s competition, which was “Rainforest”.
Lela took home RM1500, a crown, a sash, a trophy and a hamper.
Bidayuh teacher, Eliana Jimuk came second; she received RM1000, a trophy, a sash and a hamper.
Meanwhile Adella Talu, who was third, went home with RM800, a trophy, a sash and a hamper.
Eight other finalists received RM150 and a hamper each.
The organising committee also presented a prize to Stephanie Rendie Anak Reba, the contestant with the best dress.
The Miss Favourite/Popular prize, based on the highest points voted through popularity votes by the members of the public, went to Katerina Sambai who managed to garner 881 points.
Both Stephanie and Katerina received RM300 and a hamper each.
Wife of the Kapit Resident, Riti Anak Anchang crowned the Kapit Fest beauty queen and presented the prizes to the other winners of the competition.
The Kapit Fest beauty contest was organised by Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) Kapit. It was the main highlight of the week-long Kapit Fest celebration held from August 11-20.
Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr. James Jemut Masing graced the closing of the Kapit Fest celebration, Entrepreneurs Showcase, Consumerism Carnival and ACSJ IV (Anugerah Carta Siapa Juara).
