KUCHING: A longhouse chief (tuai rumah) died in an accident at Jalan Pasi, Bintangor, Sarikei at about 6.30 am yesterday.
The longhouse chief identified as Baki anak Agok aged 72 was riding a motorcycle with his wife when another motorcycle overtook them.
The motorcycle Baki and his wife was riding then collided with an oncoming pick-up truck driven by a teacher aged 38.
The impact of the collision caused Baki to sustain serious head injuries and died on the spot while his wife broke her right leg. The driver of the pick-up truck sustained only minor injuries.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu
confirmed that Baki’s remains were taken to Sarikei Hospital’s morgue where a post mortem will be conducted while his wife is being treated at the hospital.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
