KUCHING: Swinburne University is staging its first Ramadan Bazaar with the theme, ‘Unlike Any Other’.
It features over 40 food stalls and food trucks which offer various selection of Malaysian, Asian and Western dishes and desserts at discounted prices.
Among items sold at the stalls are Cocopuri Ice Cream, Rojak Muhammad Kucei, Sugarbun, Kopicut, the Raw Kitchen Malaysia, Brobites, Thirst, Hausboom Borneo, Cangke Besa Kuching, Junk Home, Swee Kang Food Truck and Kuching Food Kartel.
The Ramadan bazaar started operation yesterday is open to the public from 4pm to 8pm.
The bazaar was launched by Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Datuk Hajah Fatimah Abdullah.
In her speech she said such event saved the students the hassles of buying foods from other Ramadan bazaars in the city.
“They can easily buy their food here in the bazaar while still having the Ramadan festive spirit when such bazaar exists in their campus.
“Apart from that, I would also like to commend the effort of Swinburne for contributing part of sales from the bazaar to three charitable bodies,” said Fatimah.
She also donated RM1,000 to a donation box placed in the centre of the bazaar.
