SEBUYAU: The state government will find a long term solution for the water woes here. C h i e f Mi n i s t e r , D a t u k Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg revealed this yesterday after officiating at the ground breaking ceremony of Sebuyau New Township here. He said the state government had decided to make a stat e water grid and the research was ongoing.

The government, he added, would find the right financial model to implement for the water grid. “It has to be done for the long term benefits of the people in Sebuyau and other places along the coast,” he said. Johari said the water source for the state water grid would probably come from the Batang Ai Dam or Bengoh Dam.

“If the water from these dams is not enough, we may build our own dam,” he pointed out. Johari said this was because the water in the coastal areas was salty and the people there needed clean water. “Besides that, we have also decided to develop the res t house in Sebuyau into a chalet.“

The chalet will be rented out to the public and I have approved a RM10 million allocation to build it,” he said.

“When the late Tok Nan was the Chief Minister, he star ted the de v e lopment in the new township by building the mosque,” he said.

Joha r i added that a s the new Chief Minister, he would continue the development in Sebuyau. “The mosque is now in Phase 2 of construction I will allocate another RM6 mi l l ion for the Phase 3 construction,” added Johari.

Al so present were Deput y Chief Mini s ter, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, Coastal Road Assistant Minister, Datuk Julaihi Narawi and ECommerce Assistant Minister, Dato Naroden Majais.
