KUCHING: A 26-year-old man from Batu Kawa had his ear and face slashed by a group of 10 persons. The victim who works in a handphone shop said he was with friends in a coffee shop at about 3.30 am yesterday when a group of people armed with sharp weapons rushed into the shop at Jalan Stutong and attacked him.

He said he was seated facing the back of the shop so he did not realise the group coming in. His friend managed to escape. After being slashed numerous times, he managed to escape and called a friend
who sent him to a private hospital.

A police report has been lodged.

Meanwhile, outside a pub earlier on at about 2.45 am, a 25-year-old from Jalan Semabah and his girlfriend were both attacked by some 20 people.

The victim who sustained slash wounds on his face, back and head said he was in front of a pub at Jalan Stutong when the crowd of people armed with weapons attacked him.

He said his friends who were with him ran off leaving him and his girlfriend to fend for themselves.

His girlfriend also sustained injuries. Both victims from the two cases denied knowing the motive of the attacks.

It was not clear whether the two cases were related.

Kuching police chief, ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai confirmed the cases and said they are investigating them.
