DALAT: SMK Dalat successfully held an event called “Aku Janji dan Penetapan Sasaran (Pledge and Target)” for its Form Five students who will be sitting for the SPM this year.

Staged at the school hall, recently, the event  aimed to spur the spirit of the students, parents and the citizens of the school, especially those involved in the SPM.

During the event, the  students and parents were exposed to talks and  briefings  on the next stage of education including the technical and vocational fields.

The educational talks were delivered by  officers from Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS) and the International College of  Advanced Technology(i-CATS).

At the event, PPKS/i-CATS also handed over sponsored items  to the school which will be celebrating its Ruby Jubilee on March 3.

On hand to receive the sponsored items from the training centres which were represented by Awang Mohd Hasrekim Awang Yusof was the school principal, Magdaline Joh, in the presence of i-CATS School Relations Officer, Zainal Abiddin Ahmad.

The main activities of the school’s  40th anniversary celebration will be the Stretching of the longest Mind Map Banner   in the nation according to the Malaysia Book of Records and the Dalat Fun Run 2018.

The principal thanked   sponsors including D’Sanglau Sports and Recreational Club, Human Resource Development Berhad, MOMA Water, Nestle Milo, Zero Design, Ethos Academy, PPKS and i-CATS as well as   the Parent-Teacher Association, Alumni Association and the citizens of the school for supporting the Ruby Jubilee celebration.

Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development and Dalat State Assemblywoman, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah is expected to launch the celebration.

The secondary school, which began  operating in 1977 and officially opened in 1978, is located about one kilometre from Dalat Bazaar.
