SUPP sets up counter service for BR1M applicants

KAPIT: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kapit recently set up its counter service in front of the council’s Gelanggang Kenyalang market to help the needy, especially the elders, to fill in their application forms and renew their applications for BRIM (Bantuan Rakyat 1 Malaysia).

Bukit Goram State Assemblyman, Jefferson Jamit Unyat also spent about an hour at the counter to interact with the SUPP volunteers and also the applicants who were from various races.

Accompanying Jamit were Special Affairs Officer to Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Alexander Nanta, Ambrose Abong Bugek, Chairman of SADIA Kapit, Edward Manggah, Pemanca Yong Thu Fook, Penghulu Sia Shui Poh, Chairman of SUPP Kapit Ling Thiam Ing and SUPP Kapit’s secretary, Councillor David Wong. SUPP Kapit chairman, James Ling Thiam Ing told the press that the response was overwhelming.

“When we organised this service counter, it was meant only for one day but due to the overwhelming response, we decided to extend the counter service from Tuesday up till yesterday to help those in need. Indeed we are happy that we are able to play our role,” he said.

According to the volunteers at the counter, more than 200 applicants visited it during the four-day counter service.
