KUCHING: All border posts and border crossings in the state are to close with immediate effect, said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said the move is to contain the spread of Covid-19 outbreak.

Only the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex between Sarawak and Brunei will remain open. The CIQ complex at Sungai Tujuh, Tedungan, Pandaruan and Mengkalap will be open from 6am to 8pm daily.

“All CIQ complexes between Sarawak and Kalimantan at Tebedu, Biawak and Lubok Antu will be open between 9am to 3pm,” he said in a press conference at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday.

Abang Johari said the operating hours are agreed to by Brunei and Indonesia.

“The government is also enlisting the involvement of the military with immediate effect to enforce the Movement Control Order (MCO) at border posts and rural areas,” he said.
