SIBU: There are still no clues as to the whereabouts of a 73-year-old with Alzheimer’s who has been missing since Nov 27 here.

The search for Ling Siew Meau was suspended as evening fell on Saturday and will resume in the morning.

Ling, who also has kidney problems, left his residence at No. 4C, Lane 1B Sibu Jaya, on Nov 27  and  his family members filed a missing person report the next day after he did not return home.

The Sibu Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the search  and rescue operation on Saturday deployed three teams comprising firefighters, the police, and the Malaysian Defence Force (APM) to various locations.

The focused locations in the morning were in the area of Pekan Sibu Jaya Sendayan housing area, Sibu Jaya Market and also Sibu Jaya area.

“The focus of the operation was on inspecting the drainage system and the adjacent bush or forest areas near the lanes.

“At 11.10 am, the search team returned to the meeting point, having determined that the victim had not been located.

“In the afternoon, at 2 pm, the SAR operation resumed, with emphasis on the Sibu Jaya area, Sibu Jaya industrial road area, Sibu Jaya landfill site, Pearl Avenue, Amber Road, and Sibu Jaya flats.

“However, no clues regarding the victim’s whereabouts have been discovered at this juncture,” it added.
