OCBC Bank supports state’s strategic initiatives

KUCHING: OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad expressed its support for the Sarawak government’s strategic initiatives to fight for economic prosperity, social inclusion and environmental sustainability.

In stating this, its chief executive officer (CEO) Tan Chor Sen said that Sarawak remained an important part of OCBC Malaysia’s strategic core which contributed to Malaysia’s economic growth and was an important key market for the OCBC Group.

“We see that Sarawak has great potential, especially in the field of sustainability which is now declared to be the focus of the world and Sarawak plays a role not only for the state itself and Malaysia but also for the region in terms of renewable energy, green energy and so on.

“So what is more important is that we get guidance from the Premier on where the OCBC group can support the continuous growth and strategic initiatives of Sarawak.

“Here, we have received a lot of guidance from the Premier and we are very happy that we made this courtesy visit,” he said.

 Tan was met by the media after paying  a courtesy call on  Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today (May 26).

Meanwhile, OCBC Bank’s managing director, Senior Banker and head of Investment Banking, Tan Ai Chin reiterated that OCBC Bank was committed to providing support to the Sarawak government’s development strategy involving infrastructure development including green energy.

“We will continue to provide more resources to support infrastructure development, renewable energy, projects and all other things planned by the Premier.

“We continue to be committed in supporting Sarawak,” he said.
