In an integrated ‘Ops Ambang Tahun Baru’ from 8.30pm last night until 4.30am today, the police have issued a total of 94 fines against motorists around Sibu town.

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili in a statement, said that the traffic summonses were distributed after inspections were conducted on 53 local motorists.

“Among the offences detected throughout the operation include lacking a driver’s licence, underage driving, expired road tax, modified exhausts, fancy plate numbers, and failure to wear a helmet.

“Other than that, the police also confiscated 31 motorcycles for two offences under the Road Transport Act 1987.

“Of these, three were confiscated under Section 108 for falsifying plate numbers, while 28 were seized under Section 64 for documentation purposes,” he said.

In light of this, Zulkipli emphasised the importance of adhering to traffic laws and urged the public to comply.

He also advised parents to monitor their children’s activities to prevent any involvement in illegal activities.
