SIBU: Only Sarawakians are eligible to hold the state leadership, says Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

The Progressive Democratic Party president added that outsiders do not have the right.

He said the Sarawak government under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition would make every effort to protect and defend the state from outside elements.

At the same time, Tiong also urged Dudong folk to judge for themselves the transformation carried out by the Sarawak government.

“People should be wise in assessing the efforts and diligence of the Sarawak government, especially GPS, in administering and developing the state, and not be easily fooled and influenced by irresponsible people,” he said at a programme at Rumah Nyundang Jalin, Jalan KJD here.

He also advised Dudong folk to maintain and promote prosperity and unity, understanding and goodwill among the various communities.

At the event, Tiong also announced a grant of RM30,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme for 2020 to upgrade the longhouse and RM5,000 for the longhouse bureau.
