Over 1,600 expected at Nuzul al-Quran

KUCHING: Over 1,600 people are expected to attend the State-level Nuzul al-Quran 2024 celebration on March 27 at the Al-Mutaqqin Mosque in Samarahan.

Deputy Minister of Utilities and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the theme of the celebration would be ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur, and it would be attended by community leaders, state and federal government officials, mosque and surau representatives, higher education institution students, and the local community from all corners of the state.

“This celebration will be attended by the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jafaar accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, and Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg accompanied by his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang,” he said on Tuesday (March 26).

A total of 220 distinguished guests will also be present at this event which will also feature Ramadan lectures throughout Sarawak.

“After the congregational Maghrib prayer and Isha call to prayer, there will be a continuous recitation of the Quran presented by three qariahs from the Samarahan division. Following the Quran recitation, there will be a Nuzul al-Quran sermon delivered by Sahibus Samahan Datuk Kipli Yassin, the Mufti of Sarawak, followed by a speech by the Premier,” he said.

After the Premier’s speech, the congregational Isha prayer will be followed by the Tarawih and Witr voluntary prayers, and finally, by a post-prayer meal before the Head of State leaves.

“The Maghrib, Isha, Tarawih, and Witr prayers will be led by the Grand Imam of Sarawak, Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi,” he said.
