KOTA SAMARAHAN: Over 300 households from three villages in Seberang Hilir will be relocating under the Darul Hana Relocation Scheme on Aug 22.
“The villages are Kampung Panglima Seman Lama, Kampung Semarang and Kampung Lot Tambahan.
“As we have decided at the Darul Hana development management level, Aug 22 will be an important date for the community living in Seberang Hilir as the first group of residents will be relocated on that date.
“About 337 households from the three villages will move to new houses built in the Darul Hana area,” said Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
The Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication said this when met on the sidelines after officiating the closing ceremony of a zakat seminar here on Monday (Aug 1).
He said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg would be presenting the house keys, land titles and relocation compensation to the heads of the households on that date as well.
Dr Abdul Rahman also pointed out that no deadline had been set for the households to relocate, adding that “they are given the freedom to move according to their convenience.”
“We did not give them a deadline to move, but officially, (they will be able to relocate) after Aug 22. We will also provide logistical assistance for them to move their belongings.
“In terms of basic facilities, electricity and water have also been provided in the new houses and residents do not need to apply for (utility) reconnection.”
Dr Abdul Rahman added that the second batch of villages included Kampung Panglima Seman Ulu, Kampung Pulo Hilir and Kampung Pulo Ulu, among others.
“The housing project for the second phase is being built and I am not sure when it will be fully completed. We are hoping for completion within a year – by 2023 or 2024.
“It is estimated that we will need a period of between eight and 10 years to move all the villages, which are 13 villages in Seberang Hilir from Kampung Boyan to Bintawa Batu involving some 2,640 households,” he explained.
