MIRI: Over 500 individuals gathered at Al-Mutaqqim Mosque in Bekenu for Hari Raya open house on Friday.
Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Development, Datuk Rosey Yunus, said that the event was organised to strengthen community ties.
“To foster these bonds, we need increased participation, especially from our youth who are the future leaders,” she said during her brief speech.
Rosey, who also the Bekenu assemblywoman, also highlighted the importance of harmony and unity among diverse groups, urging local leaders and community members to work together to preserve and enhance these relationships.
During the event, she announced a RM20,000 grant to support the mosque’s activities.
Also present were the Bekenu Malay Welfare Trust Board chairman Dato Usup Sani Wahab, the Al-Mutaqqin Bekenu Mosque chairman Gusni Dris and other community leaders.
