KUCHING: The two-day SAGO Festival 2023 (Sarawak Gastronomy Festival) beginning July 22 at The Hills here will titillate the palates of food enthusiasts.

With over 80 vendors participating, the public will have a multitude of options to explore and indulge in.

“The SAGO Festival 2023 strives to captivate participants with its array of inventive culinary offerings, immersive tuak sampling experiences, thought-provoking discussions, captivating cooking demonstrations, and the revival of indigenous flavours and cultural wisdom.

“This event is an immersive celebration of the vibrant culinary landscape, showcasing the rich tapestry of flavours that make up the diverse cultural heritage of the region. SAGO Festival 2023 will also feature a special appearance by chef Febs Asyagaf, a finalist on MasterChef Indonesia Season 8, who will captivate attendees with an engaging talk and cooking demonstration,” organisers Sarawak Gastronomy Incubator said in a statement today.

In conjunction with Sarawak Day, the SAGO Festival 2023 will embrace and celebrate the multiracial food culture that thrives in Sarawak.

As the festival showcases a diverse array of culinary delights, the public will have the opportunity to experience the rich tapestry of flavours, aromas, and techniques from various ethnic communities.

“From Malay to Chinese, Iban to Bidayuh, and more, the SAGO Festival 2023 pays homage to the multicultural essence of Sarawak’s gastronomic landscape. This festival not only celebrates the culinary arts but also serves as a platform to honour the multicultural heritage of Sarawak through its vibrant and diverse food offerings.

“As we commemorate Sarawak Day, we invite everyone to come together, share in the joy of food, and experience the richness of our multiracial culinary traditions,” Sarawak Gastronomy Incubator said.

SAGO Incubator is a 10-week intensive incubator programme for early-stage ‘foodpreneurs’ who are ready to grow their food businesses.

The programme is jointly organized by The Hills Kuching, WAT Sarawak, and Retrospective Discovery LLP.

With the support of industry experts and mentors, the 11 foodpreneurs’ chosen this year attended workshops, masterclasses, demonstrations, and exclusive events and learned from some of the best in the industry.
