MIRI: The organisers for Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud’s 83rd birthday celebration parade are prepared to relocate the venue for the event should the weather be less than favourable on Saturday.

Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip disclosed that preparations have been made but they have yet to decide on a venue.

“Let us keep our fingers crossed that the weather on Saturday will not thwart the parade,” he said when met by local media yesterday after witnessing the full dress rehearsal at Miri Stadium here.

Also present were Deputy State Secretary Ik Pahon Joyik; Tourism, Arts, and Culture Assistant Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting; Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Assistant Minister Rosey Yunus; Local Government and Housing Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil and Miri Resident Mastapa Julaihi.

The full dress rehearsal went well despite light showers yesterday morning where a total of 104 contingents took part in it, including 1,000 students from various secondary schools in Miri who will be doing a human graphics formation.
