KUCHING: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) has confirmed that its president Bobby William will be its first candidate for the coming state election.

PBDSB, in a statement yesterday (Apr 12), said Bobby will contest in Senadin, and the party has launched an online donation drive to raise funds for its candidates.

“PBDSB is committed to sending at least one representative to the State Legislative Assembly to speak up on issues concerning Dayak issues.

“The party will contest under its own symbol and we are offering an ‘open option’ to work together with any political party that shares a common vision of fairness to all races,” said the secretary-general, Julius Enchana.

Of great concern to the party, according to Julius, Dayak rights especially with regards to native customary rights (NCR), equal economic opportunities, equal job opportunities in the civil service and government linked companies (GLCs).

“PBDSB will also speak on undocumented Sarawakians, rural poverty, human capital development, provision of basic rural facilities and amenities, among other things.

“We will keep out previous manifestos that emphasises the use of ‘Dayak’ to replace ‘any other race’ or ‘Bumiputera’ in official government forms in Malaysia and in the constitution.

“It is hoped that with the various changes that PBDSB is fighting for, the Dayak will be recognised and respected more nationally and internationally,” Julius said.

Members of the public who would like to make contributions to the party can do so by channelling their donations to its CIMB bank account (8603732496) and send copies of their online transaction receipts to PBDSB treasurer, Sai Melaka, on WhatsApp (016-4599011) for accounting purposes.
