KUALA LUMPUR: The Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah said she had deactivated her Twitter account not because she was upset by the comments made but for personal reasons.

In her tweet on Friday, Tunku Azizah also urged netizens not to make any police reports and said “Tuanku Permaisuri hopes everybody will respect what Tuanku wants and the Tuanku Permaisuri also did not want the people to quickly come to conclusion without knowing the real matter”.

The local media had earlier reported that Tunku Azizah had deactivated her official Twitter account, @cheminahsayang due to the toxic comments. However, patriotic Malaysians launched the #AmpunTuanku hashtag on Twitter to convince Tunku Azizah to reactivate her account and her account was reactivated at 4.55 pm on Friday.

In a subsequent tweet this morning, Tunku Azizah said “but today I am truly upset that police have detained these people” referring to those who had posted toxic comments on her Tweet site.

“Through the years my husband and I have never made any police report on bad things said about us…it is a free country…,” she stated in the same tweet.

“Afzan (Tengku Puteri  Afzan  Aminah Hafizatullah Al-Sultan  Abdullah) shocked me just now  “Mama… police arrested two persons!” , I am sad and upset and proceeded to activate my Twitter account, it was not my intention so that they are arrested by police, I have told the palace to inform police not to take action,  I repeat, I deactivated not because of THEM,” she said again in another tweet this morning on the arrest made by police yesterday.

On Friday, police arrested Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) youth chief Khalid Ismath for allegedly tweeting about the queen, a day after police received a report on the insults hurled against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah on Twitter.

Khalid, 29, was released on police bail today.
