KUCHING: Sarawak PKR has appointed former Padungan assemblyman Dominique Ng as the party election director for the 12th state election.

The appointment is to take effect on Dec 1.

“The Council of Elders (COE) has unanimously appointed the former Padungan assemblyman as the election director effective Dec 1 during a meeting held on Nov 27 here,” said a statement issued by Sarawak PKR COE information secretariat on Monday (Nov 29).

His selection was due to his vast experience and also the fact that he is not contesting this time around which would allow him to focus on the big task, the statement added.

Ng was the PKR assemblyman for Padungan from 2006 to 2011.  He, however, quit the party sometime in 2011, citing betrayal by certain assemblymen within PKR then as his reason for quitting.

Ng, who is a lawyer and president of the Sarawak Association for People’s Aspirations (SAPA), a human rights association, rejoined PKR on May 11 last year.

He is currently also the PKR Padungan branch chairman.

He said it was only after a very long consideration that he decided to go back to the PKR.

“I sincerely hope that PKR would become a much better party, one that can truly fight and genuinely fight for people’s justice.

“For the sake of the people of Sarawak, I am prepared to let bygones be bygones and I have already long forgiven those who had betrayed me,” said Ng.
