KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (PMC) has strongly condemned the act of illegal dumping in several building blocks within the MJC areas.

PMC chairman Tan Kai noted widespread complaints concerning two primary issues: increased garbage around designated bins and the lack of cleanliness in those areas.

He explained that while PMC is responsible for collecting the garbage, it’s the duty of the management committees in each block to ensure the cleanliness of these trash bin areas.

“We received a complaint about the piling up of rubbish over a two-week period, so this is considered as illegal dumping,” Tan said during a press conference held at a cafe in MJC today (Aug 25).

Among the 13 trash bin areas in MJC, four are not clean. Tan Kai is now urging the management committees in these blocks to act quickly.

Tan points at the piling up bulky waste at a designated bin centre.

“I talked to the management committees of MJC. I told them it’s their job to make sure the trash bin areas are clean and taken care of.”

To help deal with this problem, Tan Kai said the council had asked Trienekens Sdn Bhd to collect the trash and taking it to the landfill.

He said, “If you have bulky waste, you can call Trienekens. They will take it away for a small fee.”
