Police to recruit more to fill vacancies

KUCHING: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) is projecting to recruit a total of 4,662 individuals for the posts of Constable and Inspector this year.

Bukit Aman Management Department director CP Datuk Zaini Jass in a press conference, said it will involve the recruitment of 217 Inspectors through appointment or recruitment in December this year.

Meanwhile, for the recruitment of Constables, it will involve a total of 4,445 individuals who had completed the interview this month.

“In 2023, we will add another 4,068 people. With the improving situation, we are able to recruit a large number of trainees and reduce the available vacancies,” he said after attending the Constable Basic Police Training Programme (PLAK) Graduation Parade at the Kuching Police Academy (Pulapol) today.

Zaini revealed that police recruited a total of 6,412 people nationwide in 2021.

It involved 480 Inspectors, 5,502 Constables, 336 Support Constables and 94 Orang Asli Constables.

Earlier, he said a total of 1,158 trainees from the Kuching Pulapol will be absorbed into the PDRM service.

It consists of 737 trainees of PLAK Constable No. 42 Series 7/2021, who completed their training today and a total of 421 trainees from No. 47 Series 12/2021 who will be completing their training on June 26.
