Premier honours late wife of media veteran

KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has paid his final respects to the late Anneta Joseph Nilachee Perumal, wife of Rajah Murugaiah, a veteran media practitioner from Sarawak.

Anneta, who was 62 years old, passed away at the Sarawak General Hospital on November 2 at 12.48 pm. Her husband, Rajah Murugaiah, is the associate editor of the New Sarawak Tribune.

Despite a packed schedule, Abang Johari made time to visit Anneta’s residence at Chester Park, Batu Kawah today. He arrived at 4.50 pm and spent thirty minutes with the bereaved family.

Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi, also paid his last respects alongside prominent figures from the media industry. These included the chief executive officer of New Sarawak Tribune and Suara Sarawak, Datuk Dr. Jeniri Amir; Aden Nagrace, the editor-in-chief of New Sarawak Tribune; and Rohana Wahed, the executive editor of Suara Sarawak.

Anneta had a notable career as a marketing supervisor with Telekom Malaysia Berhad. Her funeral service is scheduled to take place at 12.00 noon at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Kuching, with the cortege leaving her residence at 10.00 am tomorrow. Following the service, the procession will move to KBS Buddhist Village, Batu Kitang, for cremation.

She is mourned by her husband, Rajah, her daughter, Linesha Meyappan, and her son, Ravinraj Meyappan.
