Fifteen suspects have been picked up for questioning since the Monday (Nov 29) incident, a video clip of which has gone viral on social media platforms.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said a special team had been set up to conduct investigations into the claim that a senior officer was also involved in the riot.

The video, uploaded by a Facebook account under the name Ali Hero, contained a defamatory statement against a senior police officer holding the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

On the incident, he said the police had identified the victim who suffered minor injuries and that he was receiving treatment in hospital.

Aidi said police had also identified the individuals involved in the riot and that 15 of them were detained to assist in the investigation.

“Efforts are still ongoing to locate and detain the remaining individuals involved in the riot,” he said.
