House-to-house free vaccination in Sri Aman

SRI AMAN: Veterinary officers will conduct house-to house free vaccination campaign against rabies in Sri Aman from July 31 to August 3, 2019.

The campaign is an integrated exercise jointly undertaken with the Department of Health and Information Department to check the spread of rabies in the division.

A department spokesman urged dog owners to bring their pets for free vaccination during the campaign. They could also bring their pets to the nearest Veterinary Department office during office hours for the vaccination.

Meanwhile, Sri Aman district Information Department has taken proactive steps in creating public awareness on the dangers of rabies. It has organised civics assemblies at various locations to inform local communities of the dangers posed by rabid dogs and the need to get their dogs vaccinated against the disease.

Rabies has claimed 18 human deaths in the state since its outbreak in July 2017. Presently, only Limbang Division is free of the epidemic.
