SIBU: Residents in Kampung Hilir, Abang Barieng and Bandong are urged to stay indoors for two weeks following the new Hilir Cluster which was declared by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) on Tuesday.

With the cluster’s emergence, a total of nine positive Covid-19 cases were recorded in Kampung Hilir on Tuesday, bringing the cumulative total of cases to 35.

Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) coordinator Dr Annuar Rapaee urged the residents to be more careful so as not to be infected by the pandemic.

“Be careful. Don’t go out. For the youth, don’t hang out with peers and try to remain at home for the next two weeks,” he said on his social media.

The assistant minister of Education, Science and Technology Research said active case detection (ACD) in the area will be implemented today until tomorrow from 9am to 1pm at Masjib An-Nur Sibu car park for residents in the areas (Kampung Hilir, Abang Barieng and Bandong).

The Nangka Assemblyman added that two new positive cases were detected involving the Jalan Sanyan Cluster.

“The total number of cases from the Jalan Sanyan Cluster is 19 so far,” he said.

Of the 73 cases recorded in Sibu district on Tuesday, he said 53 were from the Sibu Municipal Council (MPS) administrative area, five in Sibu Jaya and 15 in the administrative area of ​​Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC).
