MUKAH: Encourage young voters to go out and cast their votes as it is their responsibility, said Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine.

Hence, he urged parents and guardians to remind their children to come forward and vote as it is their right as voters in the coming 15th general election (GE15).

He added that the automatic votes would be a waste if not maximised fully by the young voters who also had a responsibility to the country’s future.

“Parents, guardians or anyone older should remind first time voters about their rights.

“This is because many who are aged 18 and above may not realise that they are registered automatically and are eligible to vote,” he said.

He also pointed out that a survey was made in Mukah that roughly 30 per cent of the population were not aware that they are registered automatically as voters.

Royston also said that young voters must understand and know the basic information before heading out to cast their votes on Nov 19.

He also advised first time voters and young voters to choose prudently and vote for candidates who are trustworthy and capable in the future development of Mukah.
