The Sebuyau assemblyman hopes that the Sarawak government will consider this appeal once the bridges, coastal roads, and the Second Trunk Road surrounding the sub-district are completed.

“For Sebuyau to have more development like other districts, we hope the Sarawak government, especially Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, will consider the application,” he said during the Batang Lupar Bridge earth-breaking ceremony today.

At the same time, Julaihi also hoped that the establishment of a Coastal Development Agency would become a reality.

“We feel that it (Coastal Development Agency) will play an important role once the coastal roads are completed. It will allow the coastal areas to expand in terms of development in future.”

Julaihi, who is also Assistant Infrastructure and Ports Development Minister, thanked the state government for approving the construction of flood walls from Sebangan right up to Sebuyau at a cost of RM350 mln.

“With this project, Sebuyau will not face any flood problems whenever there is a high tide.”

Besides this, he said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak state government was committed in its mission to build bridges, coastal roads and the Second Trunk Road, which would pass through Sebuyau.

“All these developments are expected to have a significant impact on the folk in Sebuyau, especially in terms of socioeconomic progress.”

The sub-district of Sebuyau currently has a total population of approximately 20,000 people.
