KUCHING: The Covid-19 Virus Examination Centre in Serian yesterday received thermometers from Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus during a brief ceremony at the centre.

The contribution was made in light of the centre facing a shortage of thermometers recently.

Thermometers are taken home by person-under-investigation (PUI) cases during their quarantine period to monitor their body temperature every day.

These are returned after these PUIs have completed their quarantine period.

Earlier, the centre also received donations in the form of food and beverage from Ilus. The logistics and laundry department of the centre also received similar contributions, in addition to frontline officers such as the police, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).

Ilus said he was currently working with a supplier of medical equipment to obtain footwear covers to be used at the centre. The supplier has agreed to contribute 3,000 pairs of these footwear covers.

He told that 5,000 packages of food baskets have been distributed to all villages in his constituency through the help of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) youths.
