PULAU BRUIT: Semop assemblyman Abdullah Saidol recently handed over minor rural project (MRP) funds worth RM348,620 in his constituency.

Among the recipients were two Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAS), three longhouse village development and security committee (JKKKS) and four village JKKKS, reported Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) yesterday (Sept 13).

The PTA of SK Mohd Redeh, Kampung Saai received RM6,000 while the PTA of SK Tekajong received RM1,000.

The JKKK from Kampung Masjid Tekajong received RM88,000 while the JKKK from Kampung Penibong RM3,420 and the JKKK from Kampung Sedo RM90,000.

Meanwhile, the JKKK of Rumah Sulong received RM15,000 while the JKKK of Rumah Atat RM38,000, the JKKK of Rumah Gawai RM24,000 and the Betanak Health Clinic Panel Committee RM81,000.

Abdullah, who is also the Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Corporate Affairs and Sarawak Government Communication Unit), also managed to visit the temporary house of worship (Rumah Ibadat) in Kampung Semop and handed over RM5,000 contribution from Sacofa to the Masjid Al Amin committee.

When asked to comment on the rising Covid-19 cases, Abdullah said the community must be disciplined and adhere to the directives from the authorities.

He said this was to ensure life in the endemic phase would be smooth. 

“When we enter the endemic phase, we still must be disciplined, responsible, comply with the preventive measures and directives from the authorities even though majority of the people have been vaccinated.

“The coronavirus will not be fully eradicated for many years to come similar to the aedes mosquitoes which are impossible to kill completely to prevent dengue fever,” he added.
