KUCHING: As at 8am on Wednesday (Jan 26), Sibu Water Board (SWB) is still in the process of repairing the broken water pipe in front of the Foochow Association, Jalan Salim in Sibu to enable water supply to be channelled to consumers as soon as possible.

Dudong assemblyman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the authorities had also arranged water supply using lorries for the affected areas.

“According to the authorities, this is the third time a pipe burst incident has occurred due to soil deposition at the same place,” he said in an update in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP, reminded the public, especially road users to abide by the rules as stated on the signs.

“Any vehicle weighing more than the three tons is prohibited from parking here in order to prevent pipe burst incidents from repeating in the future,” he urged.

In an earlier Facebook post at around 8.30pm on Tuesday (Jan 25), he said SWB would be carrying out repair works on the pipe starting 8pm that night, and this was expected to take up to 12 hours, causing some areas of Sibu to experience water supply disruptions.
