BETONG: Sarawak will continue to be driven by sustainable economic development initiatives towards increasing its gross income.

Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Development Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam noted that the RM13.1 billion income recorded by Sarawak last year was the highest figure ever achieved.

“Thus in conjunction with the new year 2024, we hope that Sarawak will continue to maintain its economic development, thereby increasing its gross income to support greater development progress especially in rural constituencies,” he said.

The Saribas assemblyman said this when asked about his new year hopes for Sarawak yesterday.

He advised the people to continue to work with the government to enhance the unity and stability of Sarawak.

“Our focus is to support Sarawak’s efforts to diversify new economic development,” he said.

Meanwhile Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri attributed Sarawak’s proud achievements in recent times to the political stability brought about by credible leaders.

“In 2022, Sarawak recorded an income of RM11.9 billion, last year it increased again.

“I believe that with the various new initiatives introduced by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, we will move further forward.

“Hence, my wish for 2024 is that we should continue to give trust to the Sarawak government led by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS),” he said.
Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor said 2024 would bring greater developments than 2023.

“May Sarawak and the people in Beting Maro constituency be blessed with the best health, be united and prosper along with the progress aspired to be achieved by the Sarawak government.

“We also hope that more public infrastructure can be provided for rural communities to enjoy, for example the Batang Saribas Bridge which is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.”

According to him, with the implementation of several projects under the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA) this year, especially the agricultural infrastructure, it is hoped to help Beting Maro increase food production thus enhancing the people’s livelihood.
