BETONG: Saribas assemblyman Mohammad Razi Sitam’s hard work in ensuring all villagers in his constituency get clean water supply deserves a pat on the back.

According to him, the “YB Air” title given to him was worth it after his hard work in ensuring the villagers had access to water supply was a success.

“Full water supply coverage has finally come true for Kampung Medang, Kampung Supa, Kampung Tuie and Kampung Serabang residents after nearly two terms of being entrusted with taking care of Saribas.

“Over 1,000 homes are now able to enjoy round-the-clock clean water supply with the completion of the rural water supply (BALB) project.

“I have often wondered why Kampung Mangut has access to water supply and not Kampung Medang, Kampung Supa, Kampung Tuie and Kampung Serabang — after all, the villages are only a few kilometres away from Kampung Mangut.

“Therefore, I have never been tired of voicing this problem at every state assembly because I want all the people in my area to have full water supply coverage.

“Like the Saribas people always said, nyaman agik sikdo karan daripado sikdo air (it is better to have no electricity rather than no water),” he said at a ceremony here yesterday.

At the same time, Razi thanked the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) for their strong cooperation.

However, he hoped that JBALB can resolve some minor issues to ensure all Saribas residents are able to enjoy uninterrupted water supply.

Apart ftom that, he also welcomed efforts of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to introduce a free water scheme initiative for the people of Sarawak.

Also present was Assistant Minister of Utilities (Water Supply) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
