PADAWAN: A resettlement scheme is being planned for the longhouse residents of Kampung Annah Rais here.

The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) on Sunday (Jan 30) quoted Assistant Minister of Transport I Datuk Dr Jerip Susil as saying the scheme would be able to facilitate both the villagers as well as its residents now living in the city to have the opportunity to own their own land lots.

“This is also one of the government’s efforts in helping to develop the Bidayuh area so that the land is always recognised,” he said, adding that the extension of villages was also one of the ways for the villagers to preserve cultural customs.

He said Kampung Annah Rais had its own special features with various customs and cultures which should be preserved.

“Just mention Kampung Annah Rais, it is definitely well known as a tourist destination not only in Sarawak, but throughout Malaysia and abroad,” he said.
