KUCHING: Kampung (Kpg) Tabuan Tengah residents can finally breathe a sigh of relief as a retaining wall (benteng) will be immediately constructed following a landslide incident in the village recently.

Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said a total of RM150,000 in rural transformation programme (RTP) fund has been approved for the project.

“The landslide has affected eight houses in the village and threatened the resident’s safety. Therefore, a 250-metre-long retaining wall long will be constructed.

“It is expected to be able to withstand the hill soil from collapsing and protect the houses,” he said after inspecting the retaining wall building project at Kpg Tabuan Tengah last Saturday (Mar 27).

Dr Hazland hoped that this project could be completed on time as the safety of the residents is of the utmost importance.

“This will also provide relief to the residents, especially when there is heavy rain,” he added.

Also present, among others, during the project inspection was Kpg Tabuan Tengah village chief Amzah Dollah.
