BINTULU: A local motorcyclist died instantly after rear-ending a pickup truck at the Jalan Tanjung Kidurong traffic light intersection on Sunday (Apr 14).
Bintulu police chief, Supt Nixon Joshua, said that the accident occurred at around 4.15 pm.
The collision happened when the 23-year-old victim lost control of his motorcycle and collided with the rear of the pick-up truck, which was stopped at the traffic light.
Paramedics from Bintulu Hospital pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
His body was subsequently transported to the hospital for post-mortem procedures.
The incident is being investigated Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Nixon urged the public to refrain from speculating about the incident or spreading false information, as it could cause anxiety among members of the public.
