According to Roland, each year each constituency was allocated RM9 million – RM5 million under the Rural Transformation Programme, RM3 million for Minor Rural Project and RM1 million for hardcore poor housing scheme.

“That is why we can see there are new multi-purpose halls being built and village roads and drainage system upgraded, besides money approved for social and sports activities,” said Roland in an interview.

Roland said he also received almost RM1 million from Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) to assist churches and temples in his constituency.

During his 20 years as Tarat assemblyman, Roland said he was now able to see that all villages in his constituency connected with tar-sealed roads.

“When I first became the assemblyman only 50 percent of the villages were connected with roads and some of the road were gravel roads.

“At that time there were still many villages not yet connected with roads that I had to walk for up to two hours to reach them,” he said.

On future development planned for his constituency, Roland said several infrastructure projects have been planned for implementation, while the long outstanding new Padawan road is currently being constructed.

Roland said the 30-km road will cost RM70 million and will be constructed in two phases.

He said the first phase from Kampung Mundai is under construction, while the second phase stretches from Teng Bukap to Kampung Annah Rais.

“The whole project is scheduled to be fully completed within a two-year period,” he added.

He said other projects under implementation included upgrading and replacing of pipelines at Kampung Panchor, Bratok, Tapah and several villages along Padawan Road as well as at Kampung Rayang, Kampung Munggu Kopi and Kampung Sebemban.
