SANDAKAN: Sabah Health and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Stephen Wong Tien Fatt died today of what is believed to be a heart attack. He was 64.

Wong was an appointed assemblyman as well as the MP for Sandakan. He was also DAP Sabah chairman.

A DAP Sabah women’s wing member informed by SMS that Wong died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu where he was brought after he complained of chest pain following a hike up a hill.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal had come to the hospital.

It is learned that Wong hiked up the hill at about 6.30 am with a group of climbers at the Tambaig Adventure Park in Kampung Duvanson, Putatan, near Kota Kinabalu

Wong had been the Sandakan MP for two terms.

He was appointed a state assemblyman in May last year and entrusted with the Health and People’s Wellbeing portfolio.  – Bernama
