MIRI: Several safety ropes along the hiking trails in Gunung Mulu National Park need to be repaired or replaced for the safety of climbers.

One of the Mocsar’s crew checks on the ropes along the hiking trails.

Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 6 chief Supt Law Poh Kiong revealed that a team of Mulu National Park Mount Cave Search and Rescue or Mocsar discovered this during a three-day inspection of the hiking trails.

He said three Moscar’s crew climbed up to the summit (the Pinnacles) of Gunung Api from the national park`s office on Aug 20 to identify maintenance issues along the hiking trails.

The inspection was Mocsar’s maiden task since its establishment on July 12 this year.

The crew members involved in the inspection were Kenneth Nilong, Layang Berasap and Jimmy Jarau.

On July last year, 11 staff of the Mulu National Park, mostly tourist guides, were appointed as Mocsar members after a special training.
