Salim Majid Zain is new CEO of FWD Takaful

KUALA LUMPUR: FWD Takaful Berhad appointed Salim Majid Zain as their new chief executive officer, the company announced yesterday.

“I am excited to join FWD Takaful and look forward to lead this exciting new chapter in Malaysia,” Salim said.

He added that with the support of FWD Group’s executive team, he is determined to achieve new milestones and success for their takaful business with his team.

FWD Group chief distribution officer & managing director, emerging markets Binayak Dutta said that Salim’s extensive industry background, combined with his goal-oriented and people-first approach, makes him an invaluable addition to the leadership team.

“We’re delighted to welcome Salim on board and look forward to leveraging his expertise and track record, I have no doubt that he will drive our growth and footprint in Malaysia from day one,” Binayak said.

On another matter, FWD Group announced that they have successfully completed the acquisition of HSBC Insurance (Asia Pacific) Holdings Ltd’s 49 percent stake in HSBC Amanah Takaful (Malaysia) Berhad.

FWD Group chief executive officer Huynh Thanh Phong said that Malaysia represents another landmark market entry and strategic milestone in their journey.

FWD is now the largest stakeholder in the joint venture and intends to rename the business FWD Takaful Berhad. All existing takaful certificates issued under HSBC Amanah Takaful will continue to be honoured by FWD Takaful.
