BINTULU: Sarawak’s renewable energy projects have garnered the interest of an Abu Dhabi-based company, leading to significant investments in the state.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof shared this development during a casual engagement with the people in Kampung Kemunting last night (Nov 1).

The Petra Jaya MP said the company has expressed its intention to invest USD20 billion in Malaysia over the course of a decade.

“Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan was in Kuala Lumpur to meet with this prominent company from Abu Dhabi, who has demonstrated their keen interest in investing in Sarawak.

“Their investment focus in Malaysia includes Sarawak, particularly in the realm of renewable energy.

“The hydro-power projects and the Batang Ai floating solar pilot project were among those that captured the attention of these investors,” he said.

Fadillah, who is also the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) senior vice president, pointed out that among the primary factors attracting foreign investors is the state’s political stability, thanks to the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

When the political scene is stable, it enables leaders to concentrate on the state’s administration.

This has led to the announcement of numerous projects in Sarawak, involving hydrogen, aviation fuel derived from algae and many more.

“As these investments flourish, Sarawak’s income will soar and there will be a lot of employment opportunities for its residents,” he said.
