Sarawak Biodiversity Centre hosts ministry’s delegates

KUCHING: The Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) has the privilege of hosting delegates from Pharmaceutical Services Division, Ministry of Health.

The delegates led by senior director of National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) Rosilawati Ahmad, were also accompanied by delegates from the State Health Department which were led by deputy director (Pharmacy) Nor Anizah Osman.

“The meeting has a big impact on how SBC is going to develop its natural products and have it registered with NPRA. We also discussed on the regulations related to traditional medicine, health supplement and pharmaceutical products.

“At the same time, the importance of quality, potency, and safety testing of product were highlighted by NPRA which is part of their registration and licensing scheme,” it said today (March 1).

On a separate occasion, SBC hosted a visit from the Sustainability Unit (SU) of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) led by Madelena Mohamed who is the director of SU.

The SU team’s key roles are to drive, coordinate and monitor organisational climate strategies and goals as well as to provide technical support to business tracks on climate-related issues and development.

During their visit in Sarawak, the primary objective was to gain insights into the efforts to promote sustainability through education and research on biodiversity.

“We were thrilled to showcase our ongoing initiatives and achievements in this area. We had productive discussions on potential areas for collaboration and support.

“As part of BNM’s visit, SBC took the opportunity to ask our collaborator, William Hu from Mega BSF to present his innovative business on using black soldier fly as a sustainable source for animal feed which aligns with the SU’s mission to promote sustainable practices.

“We look forward to working together for the environment in the future,” it added.
