KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was the first state leader to provide opinions and lectures during the federal minister Cabinet meeting held here.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said during the Cabinet meeting yesterday (Sept 16), Abang Johari shared his insights on the state’s downstream industries.

“At 2pm today (Sept 16), I asked Abang Johari to discuss the downstream industries, which are based on the strength of renewable energy, green technology, and electric vehicles (EV).

“This shows that Sarawak is the ‘negeri paling ke depan’ (most advanced state) in Malaysia,” Anwar said.

He said this at the 2023 National-level Malaysia Day celebration held at the Stadium Perpaduan here in Petra Jaya last night (Sept 16).

Anwar also said that Sarawak has the potential to become a hub for the development of green industry, hydrogen industry and other downstream activities in the Asean region.

“I am telling this not that I want to over praised Abang Johari, but this is the reality,

“There has never been a cabinet meeting for the federal level where state leaders were asked to give their views on the progress and new areas implemented successfully by Sarawak,” he said.” he said.

Anwar also expressed gratitude for the strong support of the Unity Government from the leadership of Sarawak (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) and Sabah (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah).

“Why do we choose unity, why choose stable politics? This is because we must unite to create a stable country.

“Why is it necessary to be stable? Only with stability can we focus on all development efforts and lift Malaysia’s economy as a great economic country and we have that ability.

“We used to reach a better point of success, but we are falling down now. However, I am confident that with this spirit of unity and stable politics, it can be used as a strength to defend the fate of Malaysians,” he pointed out.
