Sarawak, Putrajaya enhance development cooperation

DEBAK: Sarawak will strengthen its cooperation with the federal government from time to time to secure more funds for development in the state.

Deputy Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, Mohammad Razi Sitam, said that the Unity Government is not just a coalition of political parties but also a government founded on the principles of Malaysia Madani, prioritising inclusivity and the spirit of togetherness towards the prosperity of the nation.

“With our good relationship with the Federal Government under the Perpaduan Government platform, we have received an allocation of RM5.6 billion for development purposes. Therefore, to obtain more funds for the development of this state, Sarawak will enhance its cooperation with the Federal Government from time to time,” he said.

He said this during the opening ceremony of the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (Journey of the Independence Flag) in the Betong District Millennium Hall yesterday.

Razi described the longstanding interethnic unity as the key to Sarawak’s success, contributing to political stability and consequently stimulating the state’s economic development.

“By observing the continuous economic growth from year to year, the people of Sarawak have been able to enjoy socio-economic development. Our determination, after the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which has entered its third year of implementation, is to achieve the status of an advanced state by 2030,” he said.

Sarawak Information Department deputy director and Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang head Aziz Abdul Rahman, Betong Division Assistant Resident Florence Bulan Johnny, Betong District Officer Amir Ridzuan Mohammad, Debak Small District Officer Muhammad Hafiz Kepli, and Betong District Temenggong Pi’ee Alwi were also present.
